Most manufacturers use simple ascorbic acid for vitamin C because it is so cheap, but many people have trouble with the harshness of its acidity if taking large quantities, so Ultra uses the more expensive non-acidic form Calcium Ascorbate, which also protects against any potential calcium loss by including calcium in the formula.
